The Worst Super Bowl Party Ever is The Best Super Bowl Ad Ever

I thought the Betty White ad was hilarious.
I felt the “Don’t touch my Mom or my Doritos” ad was cute.
But it was the Letterman, Oprah, Leno ad that made me look for my wife.
I had to tell her, but I’m not sure if she understood the enormity of it. The fact that two former friends, sidetracked by the politics and ridiculousness of network television, could come together for comedic purposes is amazing. The ad was only 15 seconds long and now we’re discovering the logistics involved in producing such an “event.”
Keep in mind, it’s going to be a matter of weeks before Leno and Letterman are at each other again-squaring off in the ratings wars just as it was a year ago.
I’d like to think that this spot-and Letterman’s karma in general-will prove Dave to be the decisive victor in that war. But I have no idea what prompts Americans to align themselves with things like Jay Leno, George W. Bush, C.S.I. Miami, and Taylor Swift.
However, I think all Americans can agree: the promo spot featuring those three celebrities is hilarious.

I've heard a few complaints from people who did not see the humor in tackling old people...

I may not be a fan of the likes of Taylor Swift and the brothers Jonas--it's not like their music is aimed at aging Gen-Xers, anyway--but like Hanson not too long before them, they write and perform their own music (primarily for kids like themselves). And these days, that's more than enough in my book.

Oh, and yeah, the Letterman ad rocked. And he's still the king, btw.

The swipe at Swift (ha!) was a commentary of her recent joke of a performance at the Grammys. I don't care what she writes, she should at least stay in tune-particularly after selling three million copies. I've seen soloists at the local high school who could carry a tune better than her. Have Swift write a tune for them. And the funniest part of those Betty White ads wasn't her getting knocked down, it was her comeback of "That's not what your wife said last night" when they compared her/his football performance to the octogenarian.

Yeah, I've heard she was horrible at the Grammys but I once caught her on Leno's Tonight Show and she sang quite well, so...

But hey, I've been told Chris Cornell's vocals were hit or miss by friends who caught Soundgarden multiple times--I saw them but once and Cornell was spot-on--not to mention his horrendous performance of "Pretty Noose" on SNL years ago, so I'm going to reserve judgment on Swift's live singing abilities for now.
