Flash Mob At Iowa City Hy-Vee

There were more than friendly smiles in every aisle at the Hy-Vee on First Avenue in Iowa City. A buttload of City High kids all got together last Saturday morning at did a nifty flash mob while shoppers looked on in terror.

Meanwhile, at the Hy-Vee where I shop at in C.R., they gave us free samples of Ugli fruit and had blood oranges on sale.

This was arranged on FB by the seniors. There were so many kids who wanted to do it, that they had to thin the herd by only allowing the kids who could show up on Friday after school to rehearse. I love. love, love the Flash Mob craze.

I heard "Seven Seas" by Echo and the Bunnymen coming through the speakers at the Coralville Hy-Vee during a recent shopping trip. It's no flash mob, but it's better than that goddamn Numa Numa song.

A friend of mine organized a big "flash mob" during a basketball game against crosstown rivals Cardinal-Stritch. We handed out newspapers to our student section and proceeded to act like we were reading them as the introduced the apposing team. And we did it without Facebook. Ok, so not as organized as this one and yeah-even though the song sucks-it's still pretty awesome.
Speaking of, I've notice that my Hy Vee has a pretty ecletic mix of songs. I heard a Freedy Johnston song the other day while shopping.
